A little more room to breathe.
DailyFeelGood began with conversations among friends and family about the things that weigh on us.
For some, it is violence, war, the unchecked use of technology or the failure of institutions. For others, it is climate change, inequality and the pressure to work more while somehow living less. My own frustrations are often closer to home: traffic, neglected streets, missing bike lanes and changes to Porto’s coastline that could alter places and communities I care about.
We do not always agree about which problems matter most—or even about what counts as progress. That is normal. There is no single definition of “good news”, because there is no single way of seeing the world.
And there is no point pretending otherwise: plenty of things are deeply fucked. They deserve attention, scrutiny and action. But constant exposure to everything going wrong can leave us exhausted without making us any more capable of changing it.
DailyFeelGood is not an escape from reality and it is not forced optimism. It is a counterweight: a place to find credible stories about people helping, ideas working, places recovering and meaningful progress already being made. You choose the subjects and sources that matter to you. Your definition of good remains your own.
How we choose stories
We collect stories from a broad source list, remove duplicates and obvious mismatches, then screen for credible evidence of positive change: delivered outcomes, concrete action already in force, or useful findings with clear real-world relevance. We reject vague promises, speculation and optimism unsupported by evidence. Candidates are reviewed before publication, and every card links to the original reporting. AI helps with collection, classification and summarisation; editorial approval decides what is published.
Once a day, take in some good news. Take a breath. Then return to the world with a little more space to face it.
